Social Art Network will convene the second Social Art Summit over two days inScotland supported by local regional partners, sharing practice, discussing failure, and asking difficult questions to advance the field of social art practice, the Summit will explore what it means to be making art through social engagement right now.
Aimed at artists, activists, community groups, curators, students, academics, funders, and wider sectors working in the social realm, the Summit will develop agency in the field of art and social engagement. Building a network, showcasing practice, and expanding dialogue will lay the foundations for a Social Art Biennale, to be held in changing locations around the UK.
Social Art Summit 2023 will feature a programme that reflects Scottish, UK, and International practice, against the backdrop of the pandemic and what that means for artists practicing in socially engaged ways. The summit will provide space for artists to connect with others, share best practice and engage in dialogue about socially engaged art.
